當梁啓超長途跋涉嚮傢返迴時，在中途遇見青年人。他曾經忍痛到達的反傳統思想境地，卻被青年人當做自由的禮物和邁嚮未來的齣發點接瞭過去。我想這時的他大概理解瞭老年張之洞的蒼涼和無奈──而那時，他自己也是個年輕人。這一代知識份子對傳統的中國世界始終在理智的疏遠與感情的束縛中掙紮流連──可是正如那個難以得到透徹解答的哲學問題一樣：究竟理智和感情誰是誰的奴隸？以梁為代錶的近代知識分子在這個層麵上經歷著最痛苦的撕扯，列文森悲觀總結註定衰落的儒教卻在一百年後還未消失殆盡。在暮色蒼茫中閤上整本書，一百來歷史的鈍重讓我難以平靜，隻想麵對浩大的星空對所有已逝的偉大幽靈默默地揮揮手。
