很水的一本书。导论提到早期现代的再现变化（例如，制图术的图像、文本描述和人物的淡出等），集中体现帝国时空观念的转变，这一段非常重要，但作者写得比较凌乱，掺杂的东西太多，没有进一步深挖。另外注意作者与Siam Mapped（《图绘暹罗》）的一点点对话。

可能本科的时候读这个瞎糊弄一下还好了，现在研究生的课程里和大师们的作品放在一起读就很？？？研究确实详尽，但观点很单薄。中西方的比较也很superficial。

本来还觉得比较新鲜，越看越无感

真的是非常unimpressed...ethnography和cartography就算了，重点是老混淆和偷换概念：非要走新清史套路分开讲满清和汉人、族群差异化，就不要时而Qing时而Han的又不解释关系啊，到底是谁殖民？ 史料证据引用我也是服了法国无名氏也能引用……接受不能ugh
