评分Siu老师早年的作品。主体部分是考察社会主义集体化对于广东珠江三角洲地区农村社会的冲击和重塑。前面几章介绍地区、历史背景时透露出导师Skinner的区域论和同僚华南学派的历史人类学方法的影响，后面主体部分则多依赖田野调查／口述历史和国家／社会关系的权力结构分析。视点集中于基层干部，他们是依附国家权力的agent，而不像明清的当地精英是中介国家权力和底层民众的broker。
