The Tragicall History of the Life and Death of Doctor Faustus, commonly referred to simply as Doctor Faustus, is a play by Christopher Marlowe, based on the Faust story, in which a man sells his soul to the devil for power and knowledge. Doctor Faustus was first published in 1604, eleven years after Marlowe's death and at least twelve years after the first performance of the play.

There is no agreement concerning the nature of the text and the date of composition... and the centrality of the Faust legend in the history of the Western world precludes any definitive agreement on the interpretation of the play..."
作者简介
马洛（1564—1593）是“大学才子”中最有才华、成就最大的一个，在文学史上享有“诗剧的晨星”、“英国悲剧之父”的美誉。他是莎士比亚以前英国戏剧界最重要的人物，也是英国文艺复兴戏剧的真正创始人。马洛与莎士比亚生于同一年，故乡是古老的坎特伯雷（Canterbury）城。他的父亲是一个鞋匠，马洛的出身寒微与莎士比亚十分相似，但他却在莎士比亚被迫辍学的同时幸运地进入了剑桥大学，得以系统地学习拉丁文、希腊文和神学课程，这为他早莎士比亚一步从事戏剧与诗歌创作并声名鹊起奠定了基础。

看完的第一本英文原文全剧。实际看的是《诺顿英国文学选第五版》里收录的。还下载了个John D Jump编辑的PDF，1965年的版本，还没看里面的介绍部分which占了一半的内容。。。
评分浮士德在外面看了地狱公司广告饶有兴趣地参加面试，通过面试后（黑魔法练习成功）来到地狱后发现公司完全不是他想的那样，要求见公司老板路西法谈，谈后开始怀疑人生却发现已经签了合同来不及了。每个角色都十分可爱，强烈推荐。

评分读得真费劲，还是当年看香港黑猫改写的那个版本有意思。
