Sherry Turkle is the Abby Rockefeller Mauzé Professor of the Social Studies of Science and Technology at MIT. She is frequently interviewed in Time, Newsweek, the New York Times, and the Wall Street Journal, on NBC News, and more. She lives in Boston, Massachusetts.

we text instead of calling because texting allows us to edit and it does not require immediate response. Meanwhile by guessing your emotions through texts, you successfully hide your true feelings and even identities. 全本书最有意义的一点。书里的故事不太有意思，文字也不好看。

总体而言比较杂志体，侧重在小孩和青少年如何被科技影响。前七章一直在说小孩和机器人，我都怀疑作者是不是拿机器人公司赞助费了啊。

that's why i dislike sociology...tons of redundant self-justifications...it's undeniable that these problems exist but the way sociologists address them only makes them all the more complicated and confusing...

1. AIBO一类都还不算AI的robot毕竟只是addition而不是substitution的存在。2. Turkle延续了几年前的思路，试图从relational artifact的角度而不是intrinsic property的角度来思考科技or even AI。那么问题来了，如此distinction真的站得住脚么？Turkle对relational artifact的担忧恰恰是来自于科技某些intrinsic property的缺失。
