乾隆皇帝在1736年到1795年间统治着中国，他位居典礼活动构成的网络中心。这些帝国礼仪旨在通过身体实践，以有形的方式呈现支撑帝国社会的形而上学。本书是第一步完整论述乾隆皇帝和文人官员共同生产的"仪式化权力"的著作。作者打破传统范畴，巧妙地结合了人类学、后结构主义分析、表演理论、历史学和宗教学等领域的研究方法，通过一种批判性的文化史研究，阐释了18世纪中国的权力生产和现代史学家借以研究中国的概念范畴。
作者简介
司徒安，纽约大学人类学与宗教研究副教授。主要研究领域为人类学、中国文化史及宗教研究。拍摄纪录片《水书》（2012）。合编Body, Subject and Power in China, DV-Made China: Digital Subjects and Social Transformations after Independent Film。她的个人网页为www.angelazito.com。

评分福柯/葛兰西的信徒，仪式政治的延续。人类学如此大张旗鼓的进入清代上层政治研究领域还是头一次见，勉强也算得上新清史研究的一种吧（虽然貌合神离）。结尾中对“文化霸权”的引介，倒可以充作《刻画战勋》的注脚。前半部分还好，后半部分莫名其妙。
评分内容丰富，单单30页的参考书目就特值一观
评分读书会上要读的，感觉各种杂。。。
