隻讀過一部分，很結構主義。

1. Douglas在本書中分析瞭人類社會中不潔概念（如不吃豬肉）的來源，揭示齣種種禁忌實際上反映瞭特定社會的宇宙觀（龐大的象徵體係）； 2. 中心論點：Dirt offend against order. Eliminating it is not a negative movement, but a positive effort to organise the environment. 3. 猶太教將豬肉列入飲食禁忌實際上是因為豬作為一種有蹄、雙趾的四足動物與其它同一類彆的動物（牛、羊等）相比並不反芻，因而被視為反常和不潔； 4. 推薦 Introduction, Secular Defilement, The Abominations of Leviticus 三章。

關於purity是分類秩序、汙穢與disorder關聯的諸論述，以宗教潔淨作為保守、秩序之最有力途徑雲雲，都頗有意義。處理ambiguity和taboo、對danger與power關係討論兩章是個人比較喜歡的。02版多瞭一個新intro批判自己對利未記飲食禁忌的解讀，重要。
