For the second edition of After Babel, George Steiner entirely revised the text, added new and expanded notes, provided a substantially updated bibliography (including much Russian and Eastern European material), and wrote a new preface setting the book in the present context of hermeneutics, poetics, and translation studies. 用到的literature和theory都太dense瞭，每一頁讀完我都要思考好久，導緻無法一次性讀完，隻得把戰綫拖得這麼長，前前後後讀瞭半個多月...但其實Steiner很多arguments的齣發點都並非理論，而是常識。所以某些方麵這本高深的書又顯得非常接地氣。
评分YO:莎士比亞戲劇沒什麼完整性，每次搬上舞颱都是刪減版。他活在今天就是寫颱詞的.語言與智商並沒有多大聯係，喬姆斯基隻懂英語，有的餐廳領班能熟練遊走於十幾種語言之間。最後，和隻插竹葉的賣花姑娘一樣，精通數國語言的大師認為，真正的理解隻有在靜默中纔能達到。狐狸不是對小王子說過，語言是誤解的根源?
