妙趣横生，伍德对福楼拜的感情就像一个念念不忘的前任。立论围绕“生活性”（lifeness），所以哪怕不太熟悉他列举的一些老作品，读一读八卦和吐槽也是非常有意思的。（贝克特：I do give a fuck about people！！！）
评分应该成为高中必读书。培养一个合格的读者比培养作者更为重要。因为读者会成为编辑，市场，不入流的读者就是根收紧的麻绳套在作者 or tobe 的脖子上
评分Very insightful little book on western Literature. I admire Wood's attitude towards criticisms. He does not bother to "canonize" novels like Bloom does, instead, he explores another way of getting close to the texts and digging out the most subtle issues concerning the production of Literature. It surpasses Forster's Aspects of Novels in many ways.
评分读英文版有点抓不住重点的感觉……但确实是循循善诱，语言亲切舒服没有浮躁感。
评分为Wood心目中的现实主义-lifeness正名之作，和巴特干了一架。然而立论平实，殊无新意，更像是一本稀释了的微观批评普及读物。
