Television has conditioned us to tolerate visually entertaining material measured out in spoonfuls of time, to the detriment of rational public discourse and reasoned public affairs. In this eloquent, persuasive book, Neil Postman alerts us to the real and present dangers of this state of affairs, and offers compelling suggestions as to how to withstand the media onslaught. Neil Postman (1931-2003) was chairman of the Department of Communication Arts at New York University and founder of its Media Ecology program.

评分I only wish I read this book many, many years earlier. Best read of 2014.
评分can't agree more.
评分前1/3说得很好但都是重复别人的理论。中间1/3是复述历史。后面1/3论证部分在打脸（自己开头强调的不批评电视内容垃圾没内涵）咱随手做一个质疑 比如 decontextualized的信息就没有意义吗？显然不是 不然也不会贸易全球化了。 结论说只能相信教育倒是真话 教育不会污就行了嘛。
