For years, Nadezhda and Vera, two Ukrainian sisters, raised in England by their refugee parents, have had as little as possible to do with each other - and they have their reasons. But now they find they'd better learn how to get along, because since their mother's death their aging father has been sliding into his second childhood, and an alarming new woman has just entered his life. 开头特别奇特，后来觉得有点像天涯极品帖，这样。
评分Good, though not striking. The pain is there but it's too generational to be personal, and Nadia is just too much a cool observer. Nikolai reminds me of Jim Thorne, a borderline eccentric with an appetite for the wonderfully useless knowledges and an almost legendary past, quite likable, while Vera and Valentina poses as such charismatic tigeresses
评分不错的小说，没有成为那种内容压倒形式的政治小说。直接读英文原版会好很多，有很多滑稽的语言（主要是Valentina和父亲的蹩脚英文）中文是很难翻译出那种韵味的，比如“you bebby father”“you clever clever engineer""you living dead, you graveyard escapee"。Nadia描写父亲的bosom fondle着实很搞笑。非常推荐。
