Dissertation writers need strong, practical advice, as well as someone to assure them that their struggles aren't unique. Joan Bolker, midwife to more than one hundred dissertations and co-founder of the Harvard Writing Center, offers invaluable suggestions for the graduate-student writer. 有帮助的几点： 从motivation的层面讲如何克服拖延症动起来，如何持续推进。 跟How to write a lot建议的一样，writting first，每天都要写，写几个小时或者写几页，自己定目标。 正面地反馈和激励。 park on the downhill。让下一次启动非常容易。 you own your work。作品属于你而非任何别人。 advisor和committee都希望你尽快愉快地完成论文，但既不能代替你的工作，甚至不能比你更理解你的工作，所以很多时候与其期待指导，不如说期待平等的讨论，有益的建议。
