著者簡介

Alice Ann Munro, née Laidlaw, is a Canadian short-story writer who is widely considered one of the world's premier fiction writers. Munro is a three-time winner of Canada's Governor General's Award for fiction. Her stories focus on human relationships looked at through the lens of daily life. She has thus been referred to as "the Canadian Chekhov."

She is the winner of the 2013 Nobel Prize in Literature.

第一篇run away讀下來感覺她是女版的雷濛德·卡佛，算瞭還是雷濛德·卡佛是男版的愛麗絲·門羅吧，他們有一個共同的特質讓人非常欣羨－－不拿野蠻當純粹，不用誑語也可見功力，都是會講故事的人～

應該如何以一種non-condescending的方式去對待他人，纔可能形成這樣精準的觀察呢？我猜原因是要有慧眼識珠的洞察力，對自己足夠冷酷的科學式的impassiveness，和大量的觀察思考。大多數故事偏冷峻，唯有一篇Tricks暖到幾近流俗。故事的主角當然是女性，但是Munro那種站在對麵立場上，對男性弱點的深刻理解和釋然式的包容有著近乎母性的智慧，實在讓人羞愧難當。

喜歡「Chance」「Passion」和「Tricks」這三篇。用我小時候聽過的話，它們都錶現瞭＂愛的神秘，靈魂的離奇＂。當生活被發現是一條可以往各個方嚮流動的河，當人生的一連串偶然形成一段固定的曆史，當逃離本身成為瞭逃離的目的......夠簡潔，夠神秘，夠真實。
