Gilbert Strang was an undergraduate at MIT and a Rhodes Scholar at Balliol College, Oxford. His Ph.D. was from UCLA and since then he has taught at MIT. He has been a Sloan Fellow and a Fairchild Scholar and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He is a Professor of Mathematics at MIT, an Honorary Fellow of Balliol College, and a member of the National Academy of Sciences. Professor Strang has published eleven books:

He was the President of SIAM during 1999 and 2000, and Chair of the Joint Policy Board for Mathematics. He received the von Neumann Medal of the US Association for Computational Mechanics, and the Henrici Prize for applied analysis. The first Su Buchin Prize from the International Congress of Industrial and Applied Mathematics, and the Haimo Prize from the Mathematical Association of America, were awarded for his contributions to teaching around the world. 評分課已經刷完瞭,書還沒有看完,希望至少看到第7章吧。總的來說真的很好,但有些我以為比較重要的話題過的有點快(比如Linear transformation)....刷到瞭第8章。需要迴顧定期迴顧一下重點知識:四個子空間,不同的factorization,determinant以及linear transformation(這個感覺貌似不是很紮實).有一個小震撼是原來Ax=b裏麵包含瞭那麼多層的含義!甚至很大一部分的factorization都是為瞭求最接近的解。
評分本科的時候可能學瞭個假綫代。配閤MIT的18.06視頻效果拔群。
