著者簡介

Gilbert Strang was an undergraduate at MIT and a Rhodes Scholar at Balliol College, Oxford. His Ph.D. was from UCLA and since then he has taught at MIT. He has been a Sloan Fellow and a Fairchild Scholar and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He is a Professor of Mathematics at MIT, an Honorary Fellow of Balliol College, and a member of the National Academy of Sciences. Professor Strang has published eleven books:

He was the President of SIAM during 1999 and 2000, and Chair of the Joint Policy Board for Mathematics. He received the von Neumann Medal of the US Association for Computational Mechanics, and the Henrici Prize for applied analysis. The first Su Buchin Prize from the International Congress of Industrial and Applied Mathematics, and the Haimo Prize from the Mathematical Association of America, were awarded for his contributions to teaching around the world. 課已經刷完瞭，書還沒有看完，希望至少看到第7章吧。總的來說真的很好，但有些我以為比較重要的話題過的有點快（比如Linear transformation)....刷到瞭第8章。需要迴顧定期迴顧一下重點知識:四個子空間，不同的factorization，determinant以及linear transformation（這個感覺貌似不是很紮實).有一個小震撼是原來Ax=b裏麵包含瞭那麼多層的含義!甚至很大一部分的factorization都是為瞭求最接近的解。

第一个直观的感受是非常深入浅出。每一章都是从一个小小的例子出发，然后到稍微复杂一点例子。这些例子非常简单，有的仅仅只是涉及到2x2矩阵的问题，大量的图片以及结合matlab的例子，给人以非常直观的感受，似乎读者以及从例子触及到了其中的奥妙。然后再提出某一个或者定义...
