Rainbow Rowell said this is canon, not a Harry Potter spinoff. To say it is would be an insult. This is so much better than Harry Potter. Also, I hate Drarry but love Snowbaz. Holy ship, ship, ship. They are my OTP.

在這本書裏彩虹很難得沒有從她最擅長的戀愛戲入手，而是花更多篇幅去刻畫瞭一個融閤瞭美式青春校園小說和英式冒險奇幻小說的全新魔法世界（雖然彩虹在後記裏說她已經很努力去營造這個故事的英國感，但吸血鬼這個設定實在是太“美國”瞭哈哈）。也許也是因為這個原因所以兩個主角Baz和Simon的感情綫對比她以往的其它作品來說篇幅就相對少瞭很多，但這並不影響這個作品的完成度，主角的感情戲依然是全文最大的亮點之一。這篇的多角度敘事手法和E&P的雙視角敘事手法有些相似，但是更為成熟，從一開始的懸念設置到最後一點一點揭露真相，這種敘事手法非常成功地駕馭瞭整個故事的節奏，總體來說是一次非常成功的風格轉型。
