Soon the tiger has dispatched all but Pi, whose fear, knowledge, and cunning allow him to coexist with Richard Parker for 227 days while lost at sea. When they finally reach the coast of Mexico, Richard Parker flees to the jungle, never to be seen again. The Japanese authorities who interrogate Pi refuse to believe his story and press him to tell them "the truth." After hours of coercion, Pi tells a second story, a story much less fantastical, much more conventional--but is it more true?

揚•馬特爾（Yann Martel）

一九六三年齣生於西班牙，父母是加拿大人。幼時曾旅居哥斯達黎加、法國、墨西哥、加拿大，成年後作客伊朗、土耳其及印度。畢業於加拿大特倫特大學哲學係，其後從事過各種稀奇古怪的行業，包括植樹工、洗碗工、保安等。

節奏掌握得很棒。入境質感隨處可得，絕望的苦杏仁味猶在齒間。然而生活有它自己的願望與結局，端看你選擇神的道路，還是在物質的荒原上號哭。

看这本书是因为看了李安拍的同名电影的预告片。一只孟加拉虎与人生活在同一条船上吸引我。促使我去寻书过来看，因为中文版是2005年的，市面上几乎找不到了，最后终于从可爱的图书馆里找了它，可爱的图书管理员还给它加了塑料皮套。在这里我要再一次谴责一下那坑...

读完Life of Pi，厘清了不少看完电影后产生的困惑，也愈加佩服Yann Martel。他不仅讲了一个精彩的故事，而且文笔出色，读的时候经常有满满一页都想抄到笔记本上的冲动。不少人读完此书后，花了大笔精力探讨第一、第二个故事孰真孰假。可我却觉得，全书的前1/3更值得细细品味。...
