V.S.奈保爾（V.S.Naipaul）：
英國著名作傢。1932年生於特立尼達島上一個印度移民傢庭，1950年進入牛津大學攻讀英國文學，畢業後遷居倫敦。
50年代開始寫作，著有《米格爾街》、《斯通與騎士夥伴》、《自由國度》、《河灣》、“印度三部麯”、《非洲的假麵劇》等。2001年，榮獲諾貝爾文學奬。

评分最後一篇如同嚼蠟。但前麵幾篇真的短小深刻。
评分有點失望。兩個短篇還不錯，主打的短長篇令人厭煩，通篇沒話找話的大段景物描寫，沒看齣起到什麼必不可少的作用。其實整本書就是在講cultural displacement，無論“從低嚮高”追求更好的生活，還是“從高到低”尋求自由，最終都事與願違無所適從。
