Christianity, one of the world's great religions, has had an incalculable impact on human history. 评分基督教為綫索的世界文明史，簡直如史詩般，值得研究和解讀玩味的實在太多，例如十字架的符號史，宗教藝術史，宗教間的相互影響（例如pillars father和伊斯蘭教），聖經的象徵性解讀，曆史版本與基督身世問題、世界末日、monastery、希臘哲學及羅馬神話對基督教的影響、Zoroastrianism。讀的進度最快的一天居然是聖誕節在奧蘭多環球影城排隊等哈利波特過山車，排瞭四個小時硬隊，讓我從chalcedon讀到明教在中國的興衰。而聖誕夜西班牙語颱轉播的梵蒂岡教皇平安夜彌撒，也簡直令人嘆為觀止。宗教因死亡而生，而曆史又與宗教息息相關，人類文化實在九麯迴腸生生不息太令人著迷。囫圇吞棗地讀過感覺隻get到瞭一個淺淺的輪廓，許多有趣的細節都忘記瞭，更多的部分並未理解，仍需要一讀再讀。
评分“見證人”一詞，希臘語為(μαρτυ?)，與殉道者為同一詞。宣揚耶穌十字架及復活信息(κερυγμα)的人是走死亡之路、殉道之路的人。被耶穌的十字架大愛和恩典所徵服的人們成為見證人。他們不惜生命，為基督而活，為基督而辛勞，為基督而宣教，直至為基督而死，他們不管或生或死都是基督的人(羅14:6-8)。 沒有任何力量能把他們與基督炙熱的愛分隔。不管是患難、逼迫、飢餓、赤身露體，而且不管是威脅、嚴刑拷打、刀槍，還是猛獸，都不能將他們從基督的大愛中隔離齣來(羅 8:35)。
