爱玛•多诺霍（Emma Donoghue）,1969年10月出生于都柏林，父亲是文学评论家。少年时光大多在都柏林的一家天主教女子修道院学校度过，唯有十岁时在纽约的一年生活异常精彩。1990年获得都柏林大学学院英语以及法语一等荣誉学位（最高等级），但却拙于开口说法语。随后 移居英格兰，在剑桥获得博士学位（论18世纪虚构作品中的男女友谊）。23岁时写作为生，自从做了一个月的旅店服务员而被解雇后，便以不曾拥有一份靠谱工作而深觉幸运。此后经年往来于英国、爱尔兰以及加拿大，1998年定居于加拿大安大略省的伦敦市，如今与伴侣Chris Roulston以及幼子Finn (7岁)、幼女Una (3岁)居住在一起。

太粗心忽略了卷首西摩尼德斯的小诗和简介。等看完《礼物》一小节时因为不知道反复出现的“他”是个什么神秘人物，好奇心作祟，看了后面的译者感受。于是，本以为是《柑橘与柠檬啊》或者《芒果街上的小屋》这类充满童真的儿童视角作品，结果瞬间就被颠覆了，气氛立马多了一丝忧...

前半部分很好，后半部分过于平淡。 前半部分直接收笔都可以。 基督山伯爵式的逃离太容易就成功了，本以为还会有波澜

评分在港大图书馆清仓时淘的书。一个外国大叔走过来告诉我，这小说很赞。赶在今年奥斯卡前看完，大叔的品味挺不错
