作者简介
Steven Pinker is one of the world's leading authorities on language and the mind. His popular and highly praised books include The Stuff of Thought, The Blank Slate, Words and Rules, How the Mind Works, and The Language Instinct. The recipient of several major awards for his teaching, books, and scientific research, Pinker is Harvard College Professor and Johnstone Family Professor of Psychology at Harvard University. He also writes frequently for The New York Times, Time, The New Republic, and other magazines.

虽然我感觉引用的有些实验不太能证明他的论点，但整体很棒。而且这位真是吐槽帝啊，行云流水啊，无法不爱。貌似kindle版比纸版多些内容，因为最后补充的好些东西都没有纸版对应的页码了。

评分引人入胜娓娓道来，语言到底是后天的文化现象而是先天本能，当然可以和稀泥地说两方面都有。但是这句话说了等于没说。作者用渊博的知识储备向我们论证了语言何以是一种本能。二十多年前的老书，有很多内容已经被世人所熟知，但这些问题能够长久的激发人的兴趣。我没有见过对语言不感兴趣的人，夸一个人很聪明很牛逼，常常是因为他会多门语言；语言作为一种本能和其他动物区别开来，但是为什么人不能生下来就会说话；母语是怎么学的，一个小孩能够很轻易地学会说话，为什么学其他才艺如弹琴跳舞要费劲得多；在认知水平更高级的成年时期再去学习外语为什么如此困难；母语学习对我们学外语有什么启示，等等。作者的态度有些悲观，过了黄金期再去学外语真的是没有办法达到母语水平，但是你也不必非要达到母语水平不可，基辛格纳博科夫这些大牛都没有。
