On the hottest day of the summer of 1934, thirteen-year-old Briony Tallis sees her sister Cecilia strip off her clothes and plunge into the fountain in the garden of their country house. 每天讀一點，有時候多，有時候少。養成一個習慣，傍著另外一個習慣。
评分世俗三角戀+贖罪情結=暢銷書get. 我不能接受的是Briony在她的想象中站在Robbie麵前，錶現齣的卻近乎麻木不仁，對於主題而言交待得也太草率。某位華人作傢說得對，我年輕時雖然那樣寫，但迴過頭纔發現寫得太淺太淺瞭，真實生活不是這樣的。
