On the hottest day of the summer of 1934, thirteen-year-old Briony Tallis sees her sister Cecilia strip off her clothes and plunge into the fountain in the garden of their country house. Watching her is Robbie Turner, her childhood friend who, like Cecilia, has recently come down from Cambridge. By the end of that day, the lives of all three will have been changed for ever. Robbie and Cecilia will have crossed a boundary they had not even imagined at its start, and will have become victims of the younger girl's imagination. Briony will have witnessed mysteries, and committed a crime for which she will spend the rest of her life trying to atone.

Ian McEwan has written two collections of short stories and ten novels, including the award winning Saturday. He won the 1998 Booker Prize for his novel Amsterdam. He has also written several film scripts.

多重叙事者，充满罪恶感的救赎之路：并非是给年轻的爱人一个美好的结局，而是Briony终于从“上帝视角”+修辞癖成熟为坦率诚实，以empathy写作的作家，还原真实，检视情感。
评分世俗三角恋+赎罪情结=畅销书get. 我不能接受的是Briony在她的想象中站在Robbie面前，表现出的却近乎麻木不仁，对于主题而言交待得也太草率。某位华人作家说得对，我年轻时虽然那样写，但回过头才发现写得太浅太浅了，真实生活不是这样的。

评分1. 第一部分的多视角，第二三部分是单人视角，最后作者显现主体性，不知这是否算一种叙事手法上的创新。2. 不是很欣赏战争部分，战争放大了一部分情感需求，所以另一些势必会受到影响。3.反转实在是漂亮，弥补了中段的欠缺。4.可读性强，还是值得的。
