文笔真的好，读起来很有趣味。我的英文很差。

读过一本毛姆的短篇小说集，一个非常擅长说故事的作家。但是这本长篇前半部分还是读的非常艰难（一半因为几百年没读英文书了，另一边因为都是在飞行时间看的，非常容易睡着）。但是Strickland从法国到大溪地之后确实不忍心放下来，借伍尔芙说的，确实像在自己平庸的生活中迎面撞上了一座巨大的冰山。毛姆的确聪明、幽默又克制，赞美毛姆。

看过中文，再看英文，竟然还是断断续续看了三个月
