总体旨在探讨生命是什么，感知是什么，对哲学家的观点概括不全，不过作为科普类书籍设计有趣，清晰易懂，可以考虑入手看其他的几本。

至少在三个层面上好看且值得看：一、对古典与现当代哲学的着墨大致均衡，不偏不倚；二、展示了英语世界中认为值得书写的哲学家的思想脉络，并且脉络清晰；三、解释了哲学的发展，有利于理解为什么会有那么多无聊的博士论文选题。提两点不足，春秋笔法和政治正确还是挺显眼的；再就是有些解释过于简单。ps:这个夏天最好的阅读体验：read almost every page every line.
