陈蓉霞，1961年11月出生于上海市。1983年毕业于华东师范大学生物学系。1986年毕业于华东师范大学自然辩证法研究所，获哲学硕士学位。现任上海师范大学哲学学院教授。

主要著作有《进化的阶梯》、《破译生命密码》、《两性冲突》等。

主要译著有《起源之战》、《适应与自然选择》、《行走于理性的钢丝上》、《安妮的盒子》等。

This is a hard-hitting, accessible and powerfully thought-out examination of religion in the modern world. While the West is becoming increasingly secularised, the rise of religious fundamentalism in other parts of the word is dividing opinion. 恩~，我虽然没有通读此书，但读过有关片段章节的中文翻译（由柯南翻译的）。我对于作者在无神论上、以及在对待宗教的态度上都非常认同。这也是我喜欢看《Dr.House》的原因，据说那个角色在对待无神论以及宗教的态度上，就参考了理查德·道金斯的理念和观点。

原作五星，译作二星。译后记中译者想憋了半天终于决定挥手掴道金斯一掌，结果拍自己脸上了，而且特别响。惜乎…科学文化人吧？接着打算看《the greatest show on earth - the evidence for evolution》了，好在没有中译……
