Absolutely one of the best I've read. I highly anticipate the TV series due this summer. I hope it is as good as Into The West. For me, female characters are more memorable. Anges, Ellen, Agiena, all strong, tender and loving. Of the male characters, Tom stands out, overshadowing Philip and Jack.

Learnt a lot of cultural/historical facts from this book; great story, especially the first half. Second half is somewhat less powerful, very predictive and somewhat redundant.
