雖然這是幾十年前出版的一本書，但是其探討的話題對於今日之社會似乎依然有強烈的啓迪。

教育哲学课必读书。去年读过一次中文版，读得不甚明白。希望这次搞明白。

读完以后心情复杂。根据作者，学校和其他机构一样，是这个消费社会的“生殖器官”，设计好程序，制造商品，产生需求，再让人无休无止地被异化。作者认同的学习的本质和内核确实是现代学校所抽离掉的，但是作者假设的学习方式也无发摆脱一种逐渐演化出来的新的体制。但最后一章诗意的演绎确实很有趣——hope和expectation的区别，世界如何从潘多拉盒子那样尽管糟糕却怀着希望，变成普罗米修斯式的规章井然，人为上帝，以及西西弗斯式的无盼头，荒缪和无意义的。另外，学习确实不发生且不应该发生在学校。
