柯律格(Craig Clunas)1954年齣生於英國蘇格蘭阿伯丁,現任英國牛津大學藝術史係講座教授,曾任倫敦維多利亞與艾伯特博物館(Victoria & Albert Museum)中國部資深研究員兼策展人15年,並自1994年起先後執教於薩塞剋斯大學(University of Sussex)藝術史係及倫敦大學亞非學院(SOAS)。柯律格是當前從物質文化角度研究中國文明史的重要學者,自1991年起陸續齣版《長物:早期現代中國的物質文化與社會狀況》(Superfluous Things: Material Culture and Social Status in Early Modern China, 1991)、《豐饒之地:明代中國的園林文化》(Fruitful Sites: Garden Culture in Ming Dynasty China, 1996)、《早期現代中國的圖畫與視覺性》(Pictures and Visuality in Early Modern China, 1997)、《中國藝術》(Art in China, 1997)及《雅債:文徵明的社交性藝術》(Elegant Debts; the Social Art of Wen Zhengming, 1470-1559 , 2004)、《大明帝國:明代中國的視覺和物質文化》(Empire of Great Brightness: Visual and Material Cultures of Ming China, 1368-1644, 2007)等書。
