One is fate, how the will of Zeus/God will alawys overpower the will of men. The other is honor, how the mortal makes their choices in the face of war/death/fate/life, regardless of the will of God. Honor had overturned one's fear and sorrow. The last piece is humanity that drives one's love and hatred, one's wellbeing and suicide. SY 8/14

读罢全书，回到开头的第一段，才发现真正的主旨句不是"唱吧，缪斯，歌唱阿喀琉斯的愤怒，带给阿卡亚人无尽的灾难"云云，而是"and the will of Zeus was moving toward its end."，和rage of Achilles相对的是will of Zeus，如同一张牌的两面，正面是"人事"，反面是"神意"，真正哪个才是主题还不好说哩。阿喀琉斯的愤怒带来的最终结果是好友之死，赫克托耳斩杀帕特克罗斯之际，最辉煌的胜利伴着最深重的阴影，阿喀琉斯斩杀赫克托耳，最荣耀之时也是最伤心之时，荷马以众神和宿命做借口，把人类境遇的福祸相依展示的淋漓尽致。
