In A History of the World in 100 Objects, Neal MacGregor, director of the British Museum, takes readers on a tour of the world by way of its material goods. From everyday items such as pots, utensils, and money to valuables such as art and jewelry, MacGregor shows that the things humans have left behind are often as rich and informative as written texts. 著者簡介
Neil MacGregor has been the director of the British Museum since 2002; prior to that, he was the director of the National Gallery in London. A popular presenter on BBC television and radio, he was named Briton of the Year in 2008. He lives in England.

评分一百件按時代排序的館藏器物，一百個各自獨立卻又遙相呼應的小故事，除瞭作者本人的忠實描繪與史料呈現，還夾雜著許多相關人物的評論。這一百個章節每一個讀起來都興緻盎然，串聯起來就成為一整個人類文明史的大略脈絡。對我這個考古和曆史的愛好者和門外漢來說，真是愛不釋手的好讀物。

评分讀完但沒怎麼聽…… 第一次發現可以從一件物品講齣如此縱深的曆史、地理、人文聯係。就是宗教相關的，與曆史相關的知識很欠缺，導緻不能很好地閱讀這些部分。
