RONALD COASE is Nobel Laureate in Economics. His work has had a profound impact on economics; his work clarified the theory of the firm and gave rise to the field of Law and Economics. The Coase theorem is widely studied in economics. Professor Coase is currently Clifton R. Musser Professor Emeritus of Economics at the University of Chicago Law School, he is also a research advisor at the Ronald Coase Institute. NING WANG is an Assistant Professor as the School of Politics and Global Studies, Arizona State University, USA.

這兩年見的事情越多，越贊同兩位作者對開放觀念市場的呼籲。隻有靠充分自由流動的信息改變人，纔能有足夠多的人對製度變遷形成壓力。在開放社會中小團體自主堅守自己的體係是一迴事（如基布茲）；不知有漢無論魏晉地認定“沒辦法”，“中國從來就是這樣的”，繼而維持舊製度，是完全不同的另一迴事。

元非老師和小李匪道老師都推薦的書的質量就不必多說瞭。我的水平是無法對這種級彆的書指手畫腳的，確實是字字珠璣。另：原版書還是要多讀。這本書大概花瞭一個半禮拜，每天一到兩個小時。上次差不多厚度的書花瞭近一個月。任重而道遠啊。

抱著拜讀學術大作的心情，看完覺得論點無甚驚喜。但細節的確很充實，把建國後的這段曆史梳理的很清楚。書最後的自評同意我這說法：“What we have attempted is mainly a historical narrative of the chain of actions that brought it about”。

跟上一本聯係起來，忽然明白why the authority was so nervous when Zhao Ziyang passed away, because Tian’anmen Square Incident was an accident after Hu Yaobang’s death. 但從政治經濟的角度來看，這本跟吳曉波的《激蕩三十年》聯係起來看更好。
