评分第一次讀David Crystal的書是Language Death，後來纔發現原來他寫過幾本語言的百科全書，他研究涉及的領域相當廣，博學的人簡直太有魅力。這本書是對語言的通識介紹，都是非常簡單的道理，可以作為茶餘飯後的閱讀。雖然不是學術寫作，但是說到底科研總結齣的知識就應該是以最簡單的語言惠及最廣的受眾的。
