在書店翻的時候覺得涉及的一些主題還挺有趣的，結果迴傢看完瞭覺得寫的都太淺瞭。感興趣的話可以用作索引對特定的關鍵詞進行研究學習，感覺是給初高中對語言學感興趣的人寫的，比較有趣的是每章之後的小趣聞。

不是“A little history”而是“A little book”，所以蠻科普嚮的。前麵講baby的部分很可愛且長姿勢，過半後就沒那麼有意思瞭（大概是過於科普嚮…），不過因為流暢幽默所以還是看完瞭。讀到PC那節恰逢平安夜，點233個贊233

很喜歡作者。書名也起得很好，語言小書，全書都緊緊圍繞語言來談，例子生動切實，沒有語言學的架子，但浸潤著語言學的思維。從小孩學語引入，一路都是生活中最親切的例子。作者本身也是語言高手，詞匯簡單卻精彩得像小說。最感動的還是最後一個Chapter，對語言學的真愛，對endangered language的關懷，對語言少數群體的關懷，都充滿瞭人文精神呐。讀來能激發讀者對語言學的熱愛。當然，全書例子主英文，讀原版會很舒服。但願以後能寫一本基於漢語的語言小書做科普吧。

整本书基本不使用大词、难词、长句、难句，适合国内初三或高一学生读，对提高英语水平大有帮助，大人也可以读此书当作消遣。写作风格风趣幽默，逻辑清晰，比此系列另外一本：A little history of philosophy要好得多，但在语言优美方面比：A little history of the world要差些。

这本书花了大概一个月看完，中间过年期间没好好看～原版的文字并不难，用词也很平实易懂（但还是学到了很多漂亮的表达法），最主要的是直接读作者母语写作的文字很容易跟上思路和逻辑，这一点也是读原文比读中译本更顺畅的原因之一。最后一章作者提出了六点希望，其中一条就是...
