很喜欢作者。书名也起得很好，语言小书，全书都紧紧围绕语言来谈，例子生动切实，没有语言学的架子，但浸润着语言学的思维。从小孩学语引入，一路都是生活中最亲切的例子。作者本身也是语言高手，词汇简单却精彩得像小说。最感动的还是最后一个Chapter，对语言学的真爱，对endangered language的关怀，对语言少数群体的关怀，都充满了人文精神呐。读来能激发读者对语言学的热爱。当然，全书例子主英文，读原版会很舒服。但愿以后能写一本基于汉语的语言小书做科普吧。
