150623-151102 越南实习第二周百无聊赖时开始在办公室里看的，在首尔飞华盛顿14个小时的航班上看完了。写得不错的入门书。印象最深的好像是作者提到哥斯拉怪兽片的兴起和核能的利用以及工业发展导致的环境污染的联系，回到jhu查课表发现还真的有一门于此有关的环境史的课 haha

日本人参拜靖国神社真没什么好大惊小怪呀，他们是想快点摆脱历史包袱move on，而非“真心”道歉 (这听来确实很日本)。然而书里也说国家不是可以随意人格化的，那种强迫别国道歉、否则就说该国家“人格分裂”的亚洲国家窝觉得很不可思议。

I am curious, why China and Japan chose totally different attitude toward so-called great power of western world. And I wonder after I read this book, if it were China that had played the role to lead the process of modernization of east Asia, then could China, Japan and Korea be transformed into an entity which could resist Western culture?
