具體描述
本書作者從社會學的角度研究國際組織，視之為一種官僚機構，把它們當作具有獨立實體地位的行為體，從而對它們的性質、行為偏好、能力、特徵和權威性等進行全麵、細緻的考察，希望能夠籍以幫助學者們解決一些規範性的問題。本書理性地認識到瞭國際組織的兩麵性，作者花費長時間進行研究，並積纍瞭大量事實，試圖構建一種研究國傢組織的方法，讓人們正確地認識國際組織，並恰當地運作國際組織。在作者的研究理論基礎上，本書重新解釋瞭爭論激烈的國際的三個活動領域：國際貨幣基金組織利用其專業知識和權力對國傢經濟的滲透；聯閤國難民事務高級專員署在重新界定難民定義和對遣返的決定上所發揮的作用；聯閤國安理會對盧旺達種族屠殺的不乾預決定。
