[英]迈克尔•苏立文（Michael Sullivan，1916—2013）

牛津大学圣凯瑟琳学院荣誉退休院士，曾在剑桥大学、斯坦福大学等多所高校和研究机构从事教学及研究。荣获过美国国家人文基金会、古根海姆基金会、洛克菲勒基金会等多所机构颁发的多项荣誉和研究基金。

1940年代来到中国，并开始接触中国艺术，结识了庞薰琹、吴作人、丁聪、郁风、关山月、刘开渠等中国现代艺术家，此后一直与几代中国艺术家和诸多艺术机构来往密切。毕生专注于中国艺术的研究和传播，是最早向西方引介中国现代艺术的西方学者之一，并成为这一领域的国际权威。著有《中国艺术史》《20世纪中国艺术与艺术家》《东西方艺术的交会》等多部深具影响力的专著。

译者简介

徐坚

中山大学历史学系教授。毕业于北京大学考古学系，后赴美国普林斯顿大学艺术考古系和英国牛津大学东方学部学习，曾担任美国巴德学院访问助教授及法国高等人文和社会科学基金会爱马仕学人。研究领域包括东亚及东南亚青铜时代考古学、考古学理论和考古学史、早期文明比较研究、工艺美术和小艺术传统、濒危档案、文化和族群研究。著有《暗流：1949年之前安阳之外的中国考古学传统》等，译有《阅读过去》《考古学思想史》和《理解早期文明》等作品。
