萨拉·桑顿（Sarah Thornton），作家，社会学家。于加拿大蒙特利尔的康哥迪亚大学取得艺术史专业的硕士学位，于格拉斯哥的斯特赖斯克莱德大学缺的社会学博士学位。她是苏赛克斯大学的全职讲师，后在伦敦大学金史密斯学院做访问学者。她早期的作品主要围绕亚文化、媒介和文化传承，近作则聚焦于艺术世界和艺术市场。

读了台版（发现读竖版翻译并没有比读原文更快????）。前两章很吸引人，后面渐渐后劲不足，而且重点多放在了sensational的名流上层世界，题目是art world，真正讲artist的却很少。要说是在分析经济社会结构呢，感觉又不够透彻。有意思，但有点失望

对于我们这种土著，当然是只认识那么多艺术家中的村上隆...还好重点是社会学田野调查否则很难看清这一个太常被seriousness施暴的艺术圈

知道了很多表面背后的东西，写得很客观也很有可读性。比一些中国评论家写的假大空不知道要专业多少倍，反正是我读到过的少有的好书。对此作者专业严谨又不乏风趣的著书态度表示敬意！艺术还纯粹吗？
