Art History: A critical introduction to its methods provides a lively and stimulating introduction to methodological debates within art history. Offering a lucid account of approaches from Hegel to post-colonialism, the book provides a sense of art history's own history as a discipline from its emergence in the late-eighteenth century to contemporary debates. By explaining the underlying philosophical and political assumptions behind each method, along with clear examples of how these are brought to bear on visual and historical analysis, the authors show that an adherence to a certain method is, in effect, a commitment to a set of beliefs and values. The book makes a strong case for the vitality of the discipline and its methodological centrality to new fields such as visual culture. 做完瞭presentation，這門課也快結束瞭……

除瞭精神分析那章之外都看瞭，藝術史學和方法論基礎讀物，適閤沒有這方麵基礎的人。條例非常清晰，基本集中在保守西方藝術史，黑格爾之前需要加強一些：像Vasari, winckelmann這些人。

框架非常清晰，思路打開瞭。一開始低估瞭內容的難度，發現並不那麼易讀。第二部分比第一部分好理解很多。近一個世紀的的研究越來越受受這個瞬息萬變的世界左右，但也許正相反，是研究越來越變得透明，現實，正在努力脫去外衣，擺脫迷惑人雙眼的歐洲中心主義、男權主義、意識形態，想逼近一個核心。殖民浪潮、政治爭論、經濟危機…不知道會不會有coronavirusisim。
