《人文传统（一）史前文明——中世纪（全彩插图本）》旨在以全球化的视野探讨和研究世界文明的脉络，呈现“人文”作为一个独立学科的整合之美，时间从史前时期到中世纪，内容涵盖世界范围内从宗教到文学到艺术的各领域文化，为读者描绘了一个精彩纷呈的人文传统世界。本套书的英文版由全球顶级教育出版机构麦格劳-希尔教育集团出版。本套丛书自从1992年面世以来，至今已改版六次，是国外诸多大学人文系的教材。

格洛丽亚·K. 费尔罗（Gloria K. Fiero）在纽约出生和长大，于加利福尼亚大学伯克利分校取得艺术史硕士学位，后于弗罗里达州立大学获得博士学位。费尔罗教授从事人文传统、世界历史和艺术史的教学已经超过三十年。

1996年，人文教育研究协会（Humanities Education and Research Association）正式设立了“格洛丽亚·费尔罗”人文传统讲座系列，用来纪念费尔罗教授在人文传统教学与研究领域的贡献。该项目每年举办学术讲座和演出，深受学生和学者欢迎。
