短小精悍，有趣有高度，适合入门或者历尽千帆后返璞归真。one more star if renamed into A Little History of the "Western Europe", rather than "the World".

我的历史入门，读起来非常有史诗感，但是只能算是历史上，尤其是欧洲史比较重大事件的讲述，帮助认清了很多欧洲的人名，如果能配上地图或者相应时间就更好了。不过没想到贡布里希对中国的认识也就是欧美普通学过历史的高中生水平，竟然把秦始皇叫做"Enemy of History" 以最后一章的一句话结尾，One can be attached to one's own country without needing to insist that the rest of the world's inhabitants are worthless.
