Whether we grow up with one, two, or several languages during our early years of life, many of us will learn a second, foreign, or heritage language in later years. The field of Second language acquisition (SLA, for short) investigates the human capacity to learn additional languages in late childhood, adolescence, or adulthood, after the first language --in the case of monolinguals-- or languages --in the case of bilinguals-- have already been acquired. Understanding Second Language Acquisition offers a wide-encompassing survey of this burgeoning field, its accumulated findings and proposed theories, its developed research paradigms, and its pending questions for the future. The book zooms in and out of universal, individual, and social forces, in each case evaluating the research findings that have been generated across diverse naturalistic and formal contexts for second language acquisition. 评分这本书写的很好，所有想学好一门外语的的人都可以一读，会受益匪浅。SLA真的是充满魅力，虽然我们对很多领域还是知之甚少…
评分看完了脑袋有点嗡嗡嗡，但确实是本好书。覆盖了二语习得里最热门的十个研究领域，结合理论与实验描述，尽可能把复杂抽象的二语习得现象解释得简单易懂。在此基础上还给出了很多拓展的书目建议，乃入门必备。
