It's a new school year, and Greg Heffley finds himself thrust into middle school, where undersized weaklings share the hallways with kids who are taller, meaner, and already shaving. The hazards of growing up before you're ready are uniquely revealed through words and drawings as Greg records them in his diary.

很生動有趣的一本書，以日記的形式寫瞭Greg的初中生活，也看到瞭美國教育與生活很有趣的一麵，畫風很獨到，不過Greg那個弟弟Manny被作者畫成那個樣子真是太絕瞭，我從來沒有看過長得這麼醜的小朋友，而且很賤，特彆賤，好想抽他幾個嘴巴。這個係列還有剩下的幾本，找個時間把它們也看瞭。

评分在Marshal's買東西的時候，這本時代周刊售書第一名躍入我眼簾。曾經在大學的時候被電影逗的一樂一樂的，後來在紐約的青年旅社抱著一盤外賣的越南炒飯看電視裏兒童頻道又開始播放小屁孩日記，緩解瞭我當時的孤獨情緒。裏麵的單詞簡單，每一天都十分有趣，電影藉鑒瞭裏麵最好笑的情節串聯成一個故事，書裏麵卻是一個一個的段子加上詼諧好笑的漫畫，用一天的時間迅速讀完瞭它，把它送給愛人在飛機上消磨時間看。
