The focus of this edition is not on the nostalgic appeal of SCUM. Rather, in a characteristically brilliant and erudite introduction, renowned scholar Avita Ronell reconsiders Solanas's infamous text in light of the social milieu in which it was written, and reinterprets its status as a cult classic. Ronell writes, "Maybe the Solanas tract was payback: it was clocked to strike the time of response to all shameless woman-hating manifestos and their counterparts, the universalizers." 评分無法接受這麼激進的觀點，感覺作者有嚴重的mental illness。果不其然寫完本書她就去襲擊Andy Warhol瞭

评分考慮到圍繞在作者周圍紛繁的語言和事件，很難斷定作者是否有意諷刺。看論文說她的題目可能被編輯修改過，但選用scum也不可避免會指嚮society for cutting up man。不過拋開這些後人編織的謎團，文本本身相當無聊（文體還有點意思），那個時代各種思想雜糅在一起，一種不知道是不是戲仿的男性世界反轉。不管研究者怎麼努力也很難讓這個文本獨立於同時代女權主義而經典化。
