John Langan has taught reading and writing at Atlantic Cape Com-munity College near Atlantic City, New Jersey, for over twenty-five years. The author of a popular series of college textbooks on both writing and reading, John enjoys the challenge of developing materials that teach skills in an especially clear and lively way. Before teaching,he earned advanced degrees in writing at Rutgers University and in reading at Rowan University. He also spent a year writing fiction that,he says, "is now at the back of a drawer waiting to be discovered and acclaimed posthumously." While in school, he supported himself by working as a truck driver, a machinist, a battery assembler, a hospital attendant, and an apple packer. John now lives with his wife, Judith Nadell, near Philadelphia. In addition to his wife and Philly sports teams, his passions include reading and turning on nonreaders to the pleasure and power of books. Through Townsend Press, his educational publishing company, he has developed the nonprofit "Townsend Library"--a collection of more than thirty new and classic stories that appeal to readers of any age.

评分很易读的书，生词少，句子简单，教的东西也都很好用。 美国人，或许他们不聪明，所以很善于总结一些流程、方法类的东西。 读这本书，不光是学生要做的，外企众多需要进行书面沟通的人们，也应该拿来读一读，是大有裨益的。
评分我是在卓越网上买的这本书，外研社第六版，特点是厚，这也是国外书的特点，他们喜欢把复杂的东西说的简单，所以往往要费一些口舌。不过只要有毅力把这本书看完，做一下上面的习题，我想收获应该还是很大的
评分书很厚，能够看完已经是很不错的了，一直没有一个能够看完的时间，在用到的时候好像不太容易查阅，要整体看完才行。

浅显清晰结构梳理得好，阅读文章地道但数量太多了！确实是大学生写作的绝佳工具书！
评分词汇认识一大堆，真正会用的却不多。每到动笔写的时候就大脑空白，最近被逼到不写好就不能毕业的境遇了。特搬来此书当救兵，尼玛不服不行啊，老美确实会讲解尤其是方法。麻麻再也不用担心了。。。不过我得趁热打铁，每天五百字！！！早日毕业！！！！
