In the foreword, Edmund Morgan writes about Franklin's dual allegiance as an American and a subject of an English king, and his emergence as a leader of the American Revolution. This edition also includes biographical notes, a chronology of Franklin's life, and an updated bibliography.

13條美德看起來簡單，要踐行一生絕非易事。自傳寫得也符閤Benjamin的特點，精簡不浮誇，不像現在垃圾商業書，其實精華不超過10頁但硬生生寫個200頁。
