'"night, Mother" is a taut and fluid drama that addresses different emotions and special relations. By one of America's most talented playwrights, this play won the Dramatists Guild's prestigious Hull-Warriner Award, four Tony nominations, the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, and the Pulitzer Prize in 1983. "'night, Mother "had its world premiere at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in December 1982. It opened on Broadway in March 1983, directed by Tom Moore and starring Anne Pitoniak and Kathy Bates; a film, starring Anne Bancroft and Sissy Spacek, was released in 1986.
"Mama, i know you used to ride the bus. Riding the bus and it's hot and bumpy and crowded and too noisy and more than anything in the world you want to get off and the only reason in the world you don't get off is it’s still fifty blocks from where you’r...

评分無聲的絕望…
评分All torn up in coffee house.i should've read this book at home. "I didn't know! I was here with you all the time. How could i know you were so alone". Sorry Mum, I didn't know.
评分There‘s nothing surprising or shocking about this suburban American family suicide drama. The climax of the story is revealed at the beginning of the play which makes the plot and the characters so predictable. However, considering it was written in 1983, I can see why it came out as a strong force.
评分A daughter tells her mother her plan to commit suicide later that evening, and the audience is led to watch through how her mother would react and how the daughter would explain herself. A great story about a woman trying to take control of her life through shooting herself, as choose death marks her out and gives her an independent identity.
