巴斯成熟階段的一種嘗試，短篇小說集不如小說的信息量大，文本更零散，敘事更破碎，實驗性超過瞭文學性。很多人質疑巴斯是不是一個作者，我認為他是，而且是很敬業的一個，因為他的標準隻有一個--“活兒好”。
