This play takes readers back and forth between the 19th and 20th centuries. Set in a large country house in Derbyshire, a cast of characters from each century play out their respective dramas. The text explores topics such as the nature of truth and time and the difference between the classical and the romantic temperament, and the disruptive influence of sex on our orbits in life.

Fate bonded me and Arcadia when I first came across its name at Oxford four years ago. It takes a master-mind to incorporate so many "high ideas" into a drama piece. But it can be ignored that Stoppard is utterly cynical and too much of a "smart-ass" to explore human emotions in his characters.

评分#對話體#因梅樂妮《復雜》而讀。sexual congress的講解讓人想起瞭謝爾頓。看到God's will free if everything acts according to Newton's law of motion,馬上感覺God's will busy if everything acts according to Darvin's law of evolution.看得好朦朧(好不懂),捂臉。
