。。。。伊文思晚期寫作實踐的一個側麵就是對繪畫角色的研究。他的論文，“從繪圖到建築的翻譯”展示瞭一種在研究上從把繪畫當成一種思考手段到把繪圖當成一種想象手段的轉移。這裏，吸引著伊文思的仍然是建築師對於繪圖的使用，與藝術傢對於繪圖的使用之間的差彆。他注意到，藝術傢們在紙上（或者其它材料上）的創作會成為最終的作品——成為圖畫或是雕塑本身，而建築師的繪圖是麵嚮建造行為的一種翻譯的工具。如他所言，“在建築形式的發展中，繪圖的闖入式角色（intrusive role）”變成瞭伊文思研究的焦點，並造就瞭《投射性模式》
