评分从马克思说到由马克思衍生的曼海姆、葛兰西、阿尔都塞，到人类学、阐释学、语言学，形态学、政治哲学（中间就略了后来连福柯和拉康齐泽克都出来了）。本来是本着解疑答惑看的，结果只看到学术大全，最后看着看着郁闷郁卒了也不想知道是咋回事了。。

评分这本小册子实际上是为意识形态(ideology)做的辩护。Ideology在当代有被污名化的倾向，在中文权里甚至有个略有贬义的翻译“意蒂牢结”，代表着非理性的偏见。Freeden花了100多页篇幅其实就表达了一个核心观点：没有意识形态就不会有政治，所以我们要正确的认识它。第八章对后现代主义/后结构主义的批判很精彩，但比较抽象，不太容易读懂。
